Manchester United have reportedly made a club-record bid for the services of one of the best players in the Uruguayan national setup.
Edinson Cavani, 27, is considered as a top target for manager Louis van Gaal, as he prepares for a revolution of his own at Old Trafford.
Cavani is understood to be disillusioned with life at Paris Saint-Germain, having been forced to play in the wing by manager Laurent Blanc last season.
According to Italian newspaper Tuttosport, the Red Devils are keen on landing the player's services and will make a bid in the region of £56m, thereby surpassing the record fee paid for Juan Mata earlier this year.
However, Cavani is understood to be keen on playing for a club which would offer Champions League football, and this could affect United's chances of landing his signature.
