Hummels to Barcelona?

Van Gaal wants Hummels' signature

Hummels to Barcelona?

13 July 2014 - 17:05

Barcelona have reportedly joined the race to sign German World Cup star Mats Hummels.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Arsenal handed huge boost ahead of Bournemouth clash

  • The Catalan giants' new boss Luis Enrique will try to push through a deal for the centre-back after talks for PSG's Marquinhos and Valencia's Jeremy Mathieu have broken down.

Enrique is known to be determined to improve Barcelona's defense after the departure of experienced Carlos Puyol and sees the Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund player as the perfect signing.

Hummels, who will play in the World Cup final tonight (has a minor injury scare), has been on the new Manchester United coach Louis Van Gaal's radar for some time.

He wants to complete the Hummels move to replace United legends Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic who have left this season.

The 25-year-old has come through the ranks at Bayern Munich and has impressed in Brazil.
