The Reds hierarchy were speculated to be ready to spend the £75m received from Luis Suarez\'s transfer to Barcelona this month, with manager Brendan Rodgers keen on signing the Chile international.

However, Express Sport claims that the Reds will NOT be pursuing the signature of the £40 million rated midfielder, having already signed the likes of Adam Lallana, Emre Can and Lazar Markovic to strengthen the midfield setup this summer.

\"You only spend the money if the players are there,” Rodgers said.“The good thing with the owners is the money is there if the right players are available.What we can’t do is spend for the sake of it. The players we’ve brought in were players we wanted anyway.“
