Star player to hold talks with Arsenal boss over future

Arsenal's out-of-favour defender Thomas Vermaelen is reportedly set to have crunch talks with manager Arsene Wenger regarding his future at the club.

  • The Belgian international failed to cement his place in the first-team last season, following the excellent central defensive partnership of Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny throughout the league campaign.

    According to The Mail, the 28-year-old has remained at the the club to work on his fitness, and will have a discussion with the Gunners boss over his role for the next season.

    Manchester United have been linked with a move for the former Ajax star in recent weeks.
