Liverpool are reportedly ready to make an opening offer for Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi, according to The Mirror.

The Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is understood to be keen on strengthening his strike front before the transfer deadline, following the departure of star striker Luis Suarez to Liverpool earlier this summer.

According to The Mirror, the Reds are in the hunt for a new striker this summer, and Icardi is deemed to be the prime target for the club.

In addition to this, the Merseyside giants will make an initial bid for the highly-rated youngster, who is considered 'surplus to requirements' at the San Siro.
