Mexico boss Miguel Herrera feels it is time for striker Javier Hernandez to leave Manchester United and insists Italian club Juventus would be an ideal replacement.
The 26-year-old’s future at Old Trafford has been under constant speculation over the past few months, more so after reports suggesting that newly appointed manager Louis van Gaal has asked the Mexican international to start looking for another club. Hernandez joined the Red Devils from Guadalajara in 2010, and has since then made 152 appearances for the English giants across all competitions. But the last season under David Moyes saw the forward making just 24 league appearances, starting on merely 6 occasions. With lack of first team football at the Theatre of Dreams, Herrera believes the player needs to move on for the sake of his career and thinks that the Serie A side would be a perfect fit for him despite increasing interest form reigning La Liga champions Atletico Madrid and Premier League rivals Southampton. “I think he needs to leave”, the 46-year-old manager told ESPN. “I think Juventus would be a good option for him. When a coach doesn't want you - when you have your best experience, your best moment with them, and now the coach that wanted you is no longer there - it's time to move. “I think there are a lot of opportunities. They are not bad opportunities. If he goes to Juventus that would be an extraordinary team. Without a doubt, it would be a nice change for him. Hopefully he'll see more minutes”, he added.
