Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois insists he wants Petr Cech to stay with the Stamford Bridge outfit.

  • Blues’ boss Jose Mourinho picked up the Belgian international for their league opener against Burnley on Monday, ahead of the Czech shot stopper and the Portuguese manager has made it clear that the 22-year-old, who returned to London after a three-year long loan spell with Atletico Madrid this summer, will be his first choice in the nets for the rest of the season.

Cech joined the Premier League side back in 2004, and has made 326 league appearances since then. But after being reduced to a substitute role now, the 32-year-old might contemplate a future away from the English club with Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid already lining up as interested parties.

However, Courtois insists he would like to play alongside the veteran, and hopes to learn a few things from him.

"I want him to stay. Even if he doesn't play he can be a lot of help to me in training”, he was quoted as saying by ITV.

"I can still learn from him because he has a lot of experience, he can give me good tips about the Premier League, things I might not know at the start.”
