Midfielder Lucas Leiva will join Napoli this week in a deal worth 15 million pounds. The Liverpool player had been told he is free to leave Anfield by manager Brendan Rodgers.
The Brazilian defensive midfielder has already met with his former coach at Liverpool and manager at Napoli, Rafa Benitez, and agreed terms on a four year contract at the Serie A side.
Leiva had slipped down the pecking order with the recent good performances of Jordan Henderson at Liverpool and the acquisition of Joe Allen from Swansea over a year ago. The 27-year-old played in 244 games for Liverpool.
