The 26-year-old joined the Serie A giants from Torino in the summer of 2013, but has since then failed to cement his place in the first-team.

According to Tutto Mercato, Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal believes that the talented centre-back possesses all the attributes to ply his trade in the Premier League, and will make a move for his signature during the winter transfer window.

United are currently seventh in the Premier League table.
