Tottenham table Morgan Schneiderlin bid

Tottenham are in pole position to secure a transfer for French midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin. The defensive midfielder is also a target for Premier League rivals Arsenal, with Arsene Wenger desperate to bring in defensive reinforcements in January.

Spurs have already made contact with Southampton regarding a potential move for Schneiderlin back in August, when the White Hart Lane side came close to sealing a transfer for the French midfielder. A last minute change of heart by the Saints' management meant that Schneiderlin remained at St Mary's for this season.

Tottenham are reportedly closing in on a transfer for the Frenchman, who has two and a half years remaining on his contract with Southampton.

Mauricio Pochettino is confident that a deal can be agreed for the player in time for the second half of the season.
