The Red Devils manager Louis van Gaal is believed to be keen on bolstering his defensive setup this month, but has yet to make a move for a new recruit.

According to ESPN, United will increase their efforts to sign either Mats Hummels or Aymeric Laporte before the conclusion of the winter transfer deadline on February 2.

United are third in the league standings.
