The England international's current deal at Manchester City expires in the summer, and talks have stalled over a contract extension.

According to The People, Milner is looking for a fresh challenge at a top club in Europe.

In addition to this, Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is keen on filling the void due to be left by Steven Gerrard, and considers the former Villa skipper as the perfect replacement.

Milner joined the Citizens from Villa in 2010.
