Liverpool edge closer to loan deal for Chelsea keeper Cech

Cech could be on his way to Liverpool this summer

Liverpool edge closer to loan deal for Chelsea keeper Cech

18 April 2015 - 09:47

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has been locked in high level talks with his club's directors regarding a summer loan move for Petr Cech. The Chelsea number 2 is looking for a move this summer.

  • Chelsea ready new contract for star midfielder
  • Chelsea make first move to sign Xabi Alonso

  • The emergence of Thibaut Courtois at Stamford Bridge has meant that Cech has found his first team opportunities limited to domestic cup action and occasional European appearances.

Liverpool have struggled defensively this season and that poor form has largely been attributed to Simon Mignolet, the Anfield side's current first choice keeper.

The Belgian keeper is still highly thought of at Anfield but Rodgers, the team coach, wants to sign Cech on loan to provide much needed competition for the first team jersey and also to offer coaching advice to Mignolet.

Chelsea are said to be ready to loan out Cech for a hefty fee.
