Fran Merida could be heading on loan to Spanish side Real Sociedad from Arsenal for the rest of the season according to the Spanish club's potential new president Iakku Badiola.

The 17 year old came off the bench in the Carling Cup match against Blackburn in Extra Time. A move to Sociedad would see Merida, who has made three appearances for Arsenal in this season's Carling Cup.



The potential president admitted Merida could be soon joining and that Merida could also be staying for another year afterwards.



Sociedad lie in sixth in the Segunda Division.
