  • Chilean coach Manuel Pellegrini has monitored Salvio in action multiple times already last campaign and has apparently agreed to make a transfer offer for the 24-year-old midfielder.

With James Milner set to quit the Citizens for a transfer to Liverpool, City want to move quickly to replace the England international. Benfica have reportedly asled for 32 million euros for Salvio, but City are confident they can snap up the midfielder at a price of about 22 million euros.

Salvio has been an important player at Benfica in recent years and the 5 foot 8 player is comfortable playing either on the wing or in the centre of midfield. It is this versatility that is said to have impressed Pellegrini the most.

With Man City already thinking about their pre-season plans - they are set for a trip to Australia to take part in a friendly tournament.  Pellegrini is hoping to agree a transfer for Salvio before the 1st of July, when the first of his players start returning for pre-season training. According to Ticketbis, the match between Man City and Real Madrid is one of the most popular games of the tournament with more than 50% of the sales so far.

Man City are desperate to recapture the Premier League title from Chelsea and are confident that a successful summer of squad rebuilding will help in their pursuit of top flight success.
