Arsenal to fail in Carvalho pursuit

Arsenal's chances of signing up William Carvalho are minimal, as the midfielder is expected to be ruled out for at least three months through injury.

The Gunners have been long linked with a move for the Portugal international, and recent reports have cited that Arsene Wenger could finally get his man this summer.

However, the club's pursuit has been scuppered as the Sporting Lisbon star is expected to spend a minimum of three months on the sidelines with a stress fracture picked up during the Euro Under-21 championships.
