Liverpool striker Christian Benteke is a major doubt for this weekend's clash against Chelsea after he suffered a damage to his medial knee ligament.
The 24-year-old has already been deemed unfit to face Bournemouth in the League Cup having picked up the niggle during his side's 1-1 draw against Southampton.
According to The Express, the Reds are hopeful that the Belgian international wil recover in time to face the Blues in their next league encounter at Stamford Bridge.
It is added that Benteke's absence could be a major blow with fellow countrymate Divock Origi being the only reliable option to lead the line.
Daniel Sturridge is currently recovering from a knee problem whilst Danny Ings has been ruled out for the season with a cruciate ligament damage.
