Colombian international Radamel Falcao is expected to stay at Stamford Bridge for the remainder of the campaign with AS Monaco reluctant to take him back in the New Year.
The 29-year-old had an unsuccessful loan spell at Manchester United last season, and this led to speculation that he may never return to the Premier League.
However, Blues boss Jose Mourinho opted to give the striker a second chance, and signed him on a season-long loan in August.
Falcao has since then struggled to find the net on a regular basis, and is currently recovering from a muscular injury.
The Mail now reports that Falcao would have to stay put at West London for the season as parent club Monaco are unwilling to terminate his temporary deal.
Falcao has scored a solitary goal for the Blues this season.
