  • The Spain international suffered a knee ligament damage during the second half of his side's 1-1 draw at Norwich City.

Sources now reveal the midfield enforcer could be out until March at the least, should he have a successful rehabilitation period.

The Gunners are expected to bring in a new holding midfielder in the New Year as they seek to compensate for the loses of Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla.
