Mourinho wants Higuain at Man Utd

17 April 2016 - 09:51

Jose Mourinho is eager to bring in Gonzalo Higuain, once he takes over the reigns at Manchester United in the summer. The Portuguese head coach has finalized a three-year contract to replace Louis van Gaal at the helm.

  • Chelsea handed big injury boost for Bayern clash
  • Fernandes unhappy with Man Utd role under Amorim

  • Higuain had been associated with a switch to the Premier League before he opted to join Napoli from Real Madrid in 2013. Since then, he has been a key performer for the Italian side, but the lack of progress is said to have ignited his desire for a new challenge.

The Mirrors says the Special One is confident of taking charge of United this summer, and has already lined up a £70m bid for Argentine ace Higuain.

Should the move go through, it will break the British transfer record previously held by Angel di Maria's £59.7m arrival to United from Real Madrid in 2014.

Higuain has netted 34 goals in all competitions for Napoli this season.
