Marco Verratti emerges as new Man Utd target

Manchester United are reportedly planning a summer swoop for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti. The 23-year-old was expected to play a key role for Italy at Euro 2016 before he underwent a surgery for a sports hernia last month.

Italian publication Corriere dello Sport says the Red Devils are readying a club-record &pound78m bid for Verratti, who has been earmarked as an alternative to Juventus star Paul Pogba.

United have also expressed interest in former teammate Zlatan Ibrahimovic, whose future move has stalled due to his apparent desire to participate for Sweden at the Olympics.

Verratti was restricted to just 17 league appearances last season as he failed to overcome a long lasting thigh problem.
