Real Madrid launch David Alaba bid

01 July 2016 - 07:01

Real Madrid have made a fresh approach to sign Bayern Munich full-back David Alaba. The Austrian has emerged as the prime target for Los Blancos after they cooled down their interest in Paul Pogba.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
  • Pogba had been strongly linked with a move to the Bernabeu this summer, but with Juventus demanding a world-record price, the European champions have decided to look elsewhere.

According to Spanish source AS, Los Blancos are now focusing their interest on Alaba having tabled a new bid of around £54m for his signature.

Zinedine Zidane's side had failed with an initial £40m offer for the player last week.

The 24-year-old has the ability to feature at centre-back or holding midfield in addition to his preferred left-back position.

Alaba has appeared in over 200 games for the Bavarian giants since his debut in 2009.
