Chelsea return for Gonzalo Higuain

Blues plan Higuain approach

Chelsea return for Gonzalo Higuain

05 July 2016 - 09:37

Chelsea are set to revive their interest in Napoli star Gonzalo Higuain with Diego Costa nearing a move to Atletico Madrid. The Argentine had a top season for the Naples outfit last term netting 38 goals in all competitions.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • Italian publication Il Mattino says the Blues will renew their pursuit for the 28-year-old with Antonio Conte looking to add a world-class striker to his ranks.

A formal approach is likely to be made once the Blues finalize the sale of Costa to Spanish giants Atletico Madrid.

Atleti have tabled a £40m bid to re-sign Costa, who had a fairly average spell in the Premier League last term.

Higuain currently has a £79m buy-out clause in his contract, and it would take some convincing for Napoli to come down on their asking price.
