Payet confirms his desire to stay at West Ham

15 July 2016 - 11:39

Dimitri Payet has confirmed that he has no intention of leaving West Ham United this summer, despite reported interest from Real Madrid.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Arsenal handed huge boost ahead of Bournemouth clash

  • Payet joined West Ham from Marseille last summer for £11 million and produced some breathtaking displays for the Upton Park club.

So good was Payet's form last season, that he forced himself back into the France national team, and became a key player for Les Bleus during their UEFA European Championship campaign on home soil, scoring three goals to help his nation reach the final, before eventually finishing runners up to Portugal.

Payet's consistently outstanding form has supposedly drawn interest from Real Madrid, with the West Ham owners insisting that they would not even listen to offers below £50 million for the 29-year-old.

And now Payet himself has gone on to further dismiss reports of a move away from east London, pouring cold water on the speculation by reaffirming his commitment to the Hammers.

"I’m 100 per cent staying at West Ham, I love the club. I can tell the Hammers fans that." Payet said.

The former Lille player is a vital part of West Ham manager Slaven Billic's plans, ahead of the club's move to the Olympic Stadium next summer.

Meanwhile, West Ham continue to search for a top level striker to help them make a push for Champions League qualification, with negotiations ongoing for AC Milan's Colombian hit man Carlos Bacca, having failed with bids for Alexandre Lacazette and Michy Batshuayi.
