Sunderland are keeping close tabs on the situation of West Ham striker Diafra Sakho. The Senegal international struggled for playing time under Slaven Bilic last term.

  • Sakho was previously mentioned as a target for former Black Cats boss Sam Allardyce, who was looking to add more firepower to his attack front. Since then, the player's interest has diminished with 'Big Sam' opting to takeover the England national team.

According to The Sun, new coach David Moyes wants to bring in a new centre-forward this summer with Jermaine Defoe set to miss the start of the season with a thigh problem.

It is added that the 53-year-old has urged the club's hierarchy to prepare a move for Sakho, given he is also in preference of the player's ability.

Sakho joined the Hammers from French side Metz in the summer of 2014.
