Evans on Gunners radar

Arsenal ready bid for ex-Man Utd star

31 July 2016 - 05:53

Arsenal are considering a surprise offer for Jonny Evans as they bid to resolve their defensive crisis. The Northern Irishman joined West Bromwich Albion from Manchester United last summer.

  • Chelsea quoted price to sign Igor Thiago
  • Chelsea make Joao Pedro transfer decision
  • The Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has admitted that the club will move for a new centre-back after Per Mertesacker was sidelined for five months with a knee problem.

The likes of Skhodran Mustafi and Matthias Ginter have been linked with potential moves to the Emirates, and according to The Mirror, Evans is the latest player on their shortlist.

Evans is currently valued in the £15m range, and represents a cheaper option when compared to other targets (Mustafi - £22m, Ginter - £20m).

The 28-year-old was a key performer for the Baggies last season as they secured their Premier League status once again. He was also part of the Northern Ireland side that reached the round of 16 of the European championships.
