Marc-André ter Stegen’s injury could jeopardise Manchester City’s move to sign Claudio Bravo from FC Barcelona, according to reports.
Sky Sports are reporting that Manchester City are close to agreeing a deal to sign veteran Chilean goalkeeper Claudio Bravo from Barcelona in a deal worth £17 million. However, a recent injury to Barça’s German stopper Marc-André ter Stegen, side lining the 24-year-old for up to a month, could throw a spanner in the works of City’s Bravo move.
Bravo has been Barcelona’s first choice between the sticks in La Liga since signing for the club two years ago, with ter Stegen playing in the Champions League and deomestic cup competitions. However, this season, it is believed that ter Stegen will be selected as Barça’s number one, with Bravo swapping out into the role of being restricted to cup games.
With that in mind, Bravo is looking to leave the Camp Nou in search of first team football, and City are front runners for his signature.
But now, in light of ter Stegen being rules out, Barcelona may be reluctant to part ways with Bravo as it would force them to field a third choice goalkeeper until ter Stegen returns in a month’s time.
New City boss Pep Guardiola is known to be in the market for a top goalkeeper, having dropped Joe Hart for his first Premier League game in charge at the Etihad against Sunderland last weekend.
