Hull City are considering a loan approach for Aston Villa defender Micah Richards. Caretaker boss Mike Phelan is looking to strengthen the Tigers' backline before the transfer window closes on August 31.

  • The Yorkshire outfit have made a bright start to the Premier League campaign with a 100 percent record, but the lack of sufficient depth in the squad remains a major concern.

According to The Mirror, Phelan has been given the green light to bring in fresh recruits with just 13 senior players at his disposal.

Richards is currently the priority target for the Tigers, and the club are quite confident of securing a season-long loan for his services.

The 28-year-old joined the Villains from Manchester City on a Bosman last summer, but has been urged to pursue a fresh club after the club's demotion to the Championship.

Hull City will look to wrap up Richards' signature in the next 24 hours as Phelan wants to have the player in his squad for the game at Manchester United.
