  • Laurent Koscielny is currently the only fit and experienced centre-half at the Emirates, with Gabriel and Per Mertesacker sidelined through injury, and this has urged the Gunners to seal an agreement for the World Cup winner.

According to BBC Sport, Los Che have allowed Mustafi to hold negotiations with the North London outfit after they accepted the Gunners' £35m sum for his services.

Manager Arsene Wenger was initially reluctant to spend more than £22m on Mustafi, but the need for a top-class centre-back compelled him to accept to Los Che's demands.

The former Sampdoria man is likely to pen a five-year deal at Arsenal on wages of around £75,000-a-week.

The Gunners are also closing in on the signature of Deportivo La Coruna forward Lucas Perez after they triggered the £17m release clause in his contract.
