Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart is expected to turn down an offer to join Serie A side Torino, according to reports in Italy.

  • Calciomercato is reporting that Torino are interested in signing England goalkeeper Joe Hart from Manchester City, but the 29-year-old is expected to reject their offer in favour on remaining in the Premier League.

The Italian side are known to be in the market for a new goalkeeper before the transfer window closes on Wednesday night, and they have identified Hart as a potential target.

Hart has been on the substitute’s bench for all three of City’s Premier League games this season, with new manager preferring to play former Malaga stopper Willy Caballero.

And the Citizens has recently wrapped up a deal to sign experienced Chilean goalkeeper Claudio Bravo from FC Barcelona for €20 million.

Hart has fallen down the pecking order at the Etihad as his inability to play the sweeper-keeper role and lack of accurate forward passing ability does not fit into the system that Guardiola is trying to implement.

Bravo had the highest average pass completion rate of any goalkeeper in Europe’s major leagues last season, completing 84 per cent of his attempted passes.

The 33-year-old will become City’s first choice keeper, relegating Hart to third choice, with Guardiola admitting that Hart is free to find himself a new club.
