Carlos Bacca wanted to join Arsenal - Slaven Bilic

AC Milan star Carlos Bacca had snubbed West Ham United in the hope of earning a move to one of Arsenal or Atletico Madrid, manager Slaven Bilic has claimed.

  • Mauricio Pochettino confirms fresh injury blow for Chelsea star
  • Arsenal want to make four marquee signings this summer

  • The Colombian international was tipped to join the Hammers over the summer after they agreed on a £26m sum with the Rossoneri for the signature.

However, the player snubbed negotiations with the East London side as his focus was on joining either Arsenal or Atletico Madrid, both of whom never made an approach for his services.

While speaking to Milan TV, Bilic confirmed that the club had to shift their attention to Simone Zaza after it became evident that their previous targets in Carlos Bacca and Alexandre Lacazette were not interested in linking up with the club.

Zaza was signed from Juventus on an initial loan with a view to a permanent £24m deal, should he make the required amount of appearances to trigger a clause in his contract.
