Adebayors move to Lyon falls through

Adebayor says NO to Lyon

Adebayor\'s move to Lyon falls through

15 September 2016 - 14:35

Former Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur striker Emmanuel Adebayor has apparently snubbed a move to Lyon. The Togo international has been out-of-contract ever since his release from Crystal Palace earlier this summer.

  • Chelsea ready new contract for star midfielder
  • Chelsea make first move to sign Xabi Alonso

  • The 32-year-old was expected to join the French giants in order to fill in for Alexandre Lacazette, who is sidelined for a month with a thigh injury suffered in the 3-1 loss to Bordeaux.

However, it seems there was a disagreement over contractual terms, and this has pulled the plug on his proposed move.

Lyon presidentĀ Jean-Michel AulasĀ has now confirmed that the club are still interested in the experienced marksman, and it is upto the player to decide on whether he wants to pursue his career in Ligue 1.

Adebayor was a free-agent for much of the previous campaign before he linked with Crystal Palace. He netted a solitary goal in 15 outings for the South London side, and this was not enough to convince Alan Pardew to offer him a lengthy contract.
