Juventus prepared to offer Mario Mandzukic as makeweight for Alexis Sanchez

Juventus will revive their long standing interest in Alexis Sanchez in the January transfer window. The Old Lady had tabled a £35m offer for the Chilean over the summer, but the Gunners were reluctant to sell.

  • The 27-year-old joined the Gunners from Barcelona in 2014, and has since turned out to be a key player under manager Arsene Wenger.

The North London giants had began talks over an extension with Sanchez with his existing contract due to expire in two years' time, but with the attacker demanding a buy-out clause in his new deal, the progress seems to have slowed down.

Italian source Calciomercato suggests that the Old Lady will look to take advantage of the player's uncertainty at the Emirates by offering Mario Mandzukic as makeweight in a proposed deal in January.

Mandzukic, who was previously on the Gunners' radar, has fallen down the pecking order at Juve since Gonzalo Higuain was recruited from Napoli on a club-record £79m deal this summer.
