Man Utd line up Isco move

The Mirror is reporting that Manchester United are weighing up a potential offer for Real Madrid’s Spanish international midfielder Isco, and manager José Mourinho continues to bolster his midfield options at Old Trafford.

  • Isco has been on the periphery of the Real Madrid first team ever since Zinedine Zidane took the reins at the Santiago Bernabéu in January this year, and was rumoured to be a target for Tottenham Hotspur during the summer transfer window.

Much has been made of United’s recent struggles, as the Red Devils have fallen to defeat in each of their last three games, with the lack of cohesion and control in the midfield areas thought to be one of the reasons for their poor form.

The Old Trafford club smashed the world transfer record to re-sign Paul Pogba from Juventus in an £89 million deal, but Mourinho is yet to find the perfect system to accommodate Pogba, as does not seem to have settled upon which players are best suited to playing alongside the Frenchman.

If United were to move for Isco, they would be able to field a side capable of retaining possession much more easily than they are currently, and the Spaniard would add further creativity to the line-up.

Mourinho highlighted four key players that he wanted to sign in the summer, and captured them all in the shape of Pogba, Eric Bailly and Henrikh Mkhitaryan. But the Portuguese may now feel the need to dip back into the transfer market as recent results have not gone to plan.
