  • Premium Sport is reporting that Italian international striker Simone Zaza could be set to return to Serie A in January to sign for AC Milan, with his current club West Ham United considering ending the 25-year-old’s loan from Juventus early.

West Ham secured a deal to sign Zaza from Juventus towards the end of the summer transfer window, as they searched desperately for a top level striker.

The Hammer paid €5 million to take the player on loan, with an obligation to buy figured into the deal should the player make a certain number of Premier League appearances.

Zaza has played in three league games so far this season and has not managed to find the net for his new club.

Now the East Londoners are reportedly having second thoughts about the former Palermo player, and are considering shipping him back to Italy before the clause which would force them to sign him permanently is triggered.

Zaza was not West Ham’s first choice in the summer, as they initially pursued deals for Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette, Marseille’s Michy Batshuayi – who has since joined Chelsea – and AC Milan’s Carlos Bacca.
