Klopp wants Inaki Williams at all costs

Liverpool lining up record offer for Bilbao forward

22 October 2016 - 06:40

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is prepared to cough up a club-record sum to land highly-rated Athletic Bilbao forward Inaki Williams. The 22-year-old earned his maiden cap for Spain earlier in the year.

  • Chelsea join Liverpool & Man Utd in race to sign 26yo
  • Barcelona identify Arsenal midfielder as key transfer target

  • Williams has already netted 10 goals in his first-team career which began in 2014.

Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo claims that Klopp is willing to pay big for the youngster as he sees him in the same mould as Borussia Dortmund's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Aubameyang was a key performer for Klopp during his reign at BVB, and the German feels Williams could have a similar impact, should he develop under his management.

Liverpool will have to match the player's £45m buyout clause as the Basque outfit normally stand firm on their valuation.

Williams has bagged a solitary goal for Athletic Bilbao this season, which ended up being the winner in the 3-2 victory over Real Sociedad.
