Chelsea to move for Portuguese starlet?

Chelsea have made an enquiry for Sporting Lisbon winger Gelson Martins. Reports from Portugal suggest that the Premier League leaders are in advanced talks with Sporting regarding a move for the 5 foot 8 player.

  • According to reports the Blues have been tracking the talented winger for over three months and are set to make an official bid for the player in the summer.

    Gelson Martins only recently made his international debut for Portugal and has impressed in the domestic league this season; having played on a regular basis for Sporting Lisbon.

    It is understood that Chelsea will match the asking price of 27.5 million euros to sign the player, who has two and a half years remaining on his contract with his current club.

    It is understood that several other teams are interested in the player as well, with Spanish giants Barcelona also tracking the player.

    Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has been told he will be given the budget to sign whoever he likes if the club win the Premier League this season.
