Sir Alex Ferguson has labelled Cristiano Ronaldo's free kick today against Portsmouth as the best he has ever seen. Ronaldo grabbed two early goals to help the Reds to a 2-0 victory over Pompey.

  • "Those players do bring something to the team," the Scot told Sky Sports. "Park and Nani were very good.

"It was one of the best performances of the season," added Ferguson of the match. "I can't believe it was only 2-0. We had a lot of misfortune and the goalkeeper made some great saves. We missed a few chances but the performance was terrific.

"It was a marvellous strike, there's no goalkeeper in the world who would save that it was maybe three inches from the corner. It was the best free-kick I've ever seen.

"The boy practises - that's the reason. Even yesterday in training there were five or six of them doing it, it's a delight to see."
