Man City boss wants reunion with Brazilian full-back

10 March 2017 - 06:11

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is keen on a reunion with Juventus defender Dani Alves during the summer transfer window.

  • Dutch star undergoing his medical at Chelsea
  • Chelsea's deal to sign RB Leipzig midfielder falls through

  • The Brazil international was a key player under Guardiola at Barcelona during their successful period between 2008 and 2012.

Guardiola has since followed to have a three-year stint with Bayern Munich before heading to Manchester City last summer, while Alves left the Catalan giants for Juventus in a similar move in 2016.

Alves had a leg break which ruled him out during the key period of Juventus' campaign but he has since retained his role at right-back in Max Allegri's changed 4-2-3-1 formation.

According to The Sun, Pep is keen on recruiting a couple of experienced players to his ranks this summer and Alves is among the top players on his list.

Both Bacary Sagna and Pablo Zabaleta are in the final months of their contracts, and they could be released to facilitate the arrival of 33-year-old Alves in the summer.

In spite of this, Juventus will probably command a decent price for Alves' sale with Real Madrid's Danilo being earmarked as a potential replacement.
