Jose Mourinho plots sensational Arsenal raid

13 March 2017 - 17:37

Arsenal fans face the horrific possibility of losing two of their most important players in the summer, in the form of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez. To make that possibility even more devastating, Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho appears to be showing interest in the duo, as he looks to build a title winning team at Old Trafford.

  • During his time at Real Madrid, Jose Mourinho managed Ozil, and it is believed that the two still have a close relationship today. Reports in the Express today suggest that Mourinho is targeting the German international mainly, who he once called "the best number ten in the world." With the likelihood of Wayne Rooney departing United this summer increasing, there would be space for a new number ten in the Manchester United squad.

Mesut Ozil did give Arsenal fans a slight boost earlier in the day when he announced that his decision to stay at the Emirates will not depend on the future of Arsene Wenger, however the Gunners would still have to meet his increased wage demands to keep him at the club.

Alexis Sanchez's time at Arsenal appears to be coming to an end too. Another player with increased wage demands, and an apparent disappointment at the lack of progress that the club has made since he arrived, would appear to signal his departure. Recent reports that Antoine Griezmann will not be joining Manchester United in the summer has lead Mourinho to look elsewhere, and Sanchez's ability has grabbed his attention, as he looks to construct a team that can challenge for the Premier League next season.
