Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has insisted that Joshua Kimmich is not for sale amid speculation over a summer move to Manchester City.

  • The German international recently expressed his frustration at the Bavarian giants following his lack of opportunities since the turn of the year.

With just 10 league starts this season, it had been reported the Citizens could lodge an attempt for his services, but Rummenigge has quickly dismissed the claims by highlighting that Kimmich is the perfect heir to Philipp Lahm.

"We have big plans for him in the future," he told Sky Sports News. "He will be, quite literally, our successor to Philipp Lahm. From next season, he'll get more and more minutes. That's Carlo Ancelotti's plan, at least."

Lahm, 33, made the surprise decision to hang up his boots at the end of the campaign, but Carlo Ancelotti's side remain in good hands with Kimmich, who was a standout performer for Germany at Euro 2016.

Kimmich, who surprisingly joined Bayern from RB Leipzig in 2015, made 36 outings under former boss Pep Guardiola last season.
