Almunia out for Arsenal

Almunia out for Arsenal

02 February 2008 - 00:48

Jens Lehmann is to receive a very rare start for Arsenal at Manchester City at the weekend as Manuel Almunia seems to have injured himself during training for the Gunners on Friday.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
  • Almunia, out with a thumb injury, has done more than deputise, conceding only a single goal so far this year.

"Manuel Almunia is out," Wenger said. "He has twisted his thumb. He did it in training today.

"It should be only one week so Jens Lehmann will come in tomorrow. It is a chance for him to play well and to come back with a win. Gilberto is out as well. He has a stiff back."
