Man City plot deal for Schalke full-back

City look to beat rivals to Kolasinac

Man City plot deal for Schalke full-back

24 March 2017 - 05:44

Manchester City have expressed their desire to sign Schalke left-back Sead Kolasinac, who will be available on a Bosman this summer.

  • Chelsea ready new contract for star midfielder
  • Chelsea make first move to sign Xabi Alonso

  • The Bosnian footballer has snubbed contract negotiations altogether at the Bundesliga outfit, and he is free to switch clubs on a free transfer during the off-season.

Kolasinac had been the subject of a cut-price move to one of Juventus or Chelsea prior to the winter transfer deadline, but Schalke decided to keep hold of their asset knowing that they could lose him for nothing in the summer.

A report from The Mail suggests that the Citizens have moved in for the 23-year-old, who is open to the possibility of a Premier League move.

City boss Pep Guardiola is expecting a major reshuffle of his full-back options in the summer with the likes of Bacary Sagna, Aleksandar Kolarov, Pablo Zabaleta and Gael Clichy all likely to depart at the expiry of their contracts.

Kolasinac, who is an attacking left-back by nature, has stats which are only bettered by Real Madrid's Marcelo this season, and his performances have also attracted interest from rivals Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal.

The Bosnian has contributed three goals and five assists in Schalke's league campaign this term.
