Chelsea set to pounce on Serie A star amid contract standoff

29 March 2017 - 07:02

Chelsea are reportedly keeping tabs on the situation of AC Milan full-back Mattia De Sciglio, who is considering a fresh challenge away from San Siro.

  • Arsenal handed injury boost on defender ahead of Bournemouth clash
  • Chelsea planning shock move for Man City winger?

  • The Italy international is currently contracted to the Rossoneri until the summer of 2018, and talks over an extension are yet to progress as the club approach the final stages of the campaign.

Di Sciglio is capable of featuring on either side of the central defenders, and according to The Star, his versatility has captured the eye of Antonio Conte, who is well versed at tracking homegrown talent.

The Rossoneri look to be falling off the Champions League places for yet another season and Di Sciglio could consider a move elsewhere as their imminent Chinese takeover does not guarantee immediate results.

Conte is currently in the pursuit for a suitable competitor for both Victor Moses and Marcos Alonso in the wing-back positions and De Sciglio could prove to be the perfect fit for the versatile role.
