Real Madrid star Gareth Bale could reportedly consider a return to England this summer as he is frustrated playing second fiddle to Cristiano Ronaldo at the Bernabeu.

  • The Wales international only inked a fresh six-year deal earlier in the year, but he is still upset with his position at the European champions. Manchester United

Bale was recruited from Tottenham Hotspur back in the summer of 2013 with a view to replacing Ronaldo in the future. But, it now appears that Ronaldo will stay put for at least four more seasons, and this has unsettled the ex-Spurs man.

Spanish outlet Diario Gol suggests the 26-year-old is prepared to call quits on his Los Blancos career with a switch to Manchester United being his preferred choice in the summer.

Jose Mourinho has previously admitted that he had sought to recruit Bale while managing Los Blancos, and he could lodge a potential world-record attempt to prise away the attacker from the European champions during the off-season.

Bale has managed nine goals and three assists for Real Madrid in a season where he has struggled with a long-term ankle problem.
