John Terry has reportedly been offered the chance to prolong his Blues career by an additional year. The former England international has been a bench warmer for most of the campaign.

  • Terry, 36, started off the season as a regular at the heart of the defence before he sustained a ligament strain in the 2-2 draw against Swansea City in September.

    Since then, he has been overlooked for a starting position with manager Antonio Conte in favour of Cesar Azpilicueta, David Luiz and Gary Cahill as the preferred back three.

    Recent speculation suggested that the veteran could be released at the expiry of his contract this summer with West Bromwich Albion and Bournemouth both scouring for his services.

    But according to TalkSPORT, the Blues have decided to offer a one-year extension to their long-standing skipper out of respect for what he has done for the club over the years. 

    Terry has earned just 366 minutes of league action during the ongoing campaign while also making four starts in the Cup competitions.
