Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is keen to add a new left-back to his ranks with Luke Shaw likely to make way from Old Trafford in the summer.

  • The England international has barely featured for the Red Devils since the turn of the year, and he is prepared to move on with Tottenham Hotspur, Crystal Palace and Stoke City deemed as potential contenders for his signature.

According to Yahoo Sport, the Special One has set his sights on signing Benjamin Mendy after the club failed to secure his services prior to him leaving Marseille last year.

Benjamin, currently in the ranks of AS Monaco, has provided numerous assists from the left side of the defence this term, and his attribute of being an attack-minded full-back is something which could complement Antonio Valencia on the other flank.

Monaco are reluctant to lose their key players during the summer transfer window, but a sum of around £30m could urge to accept the sale of Mendy.

Mendy recently made his senior France debut in the World Cup qualifier against Luxembourg where he provided the assist for Olivier Giroud's second goal in the 3-1 victory.
