Manchester United have reportedly identified Kasper Schmeichel as their number one target, should goalkeeper David de Gea decide to join Real Madrid at the end of the season.

  • De Gea, 26, has been long associated with a move to the Bernabeu, and it is suggested that he will push for his dream transfer in the summer.

According to Sky Sports, the Red Devils are prepared to oversee the exit of De Gea with Kasper - son of former United legend Peter, in line to take over the number one role.

Kasper has stepped up from his father's shadows after Leicester City's historic league triumph last term, and he is now regarded as one of the most consistent shot-stoppers in the Premier League.

Arch-rivals Manchester City have also been credited with an interest in Kasper, but a move to Old Trafford appears to be the ideal destination for the Denmark No.1.

Kasper has earned over 250 appearances for the Premier League holders since arriving from Leeds United in the summer of 2011.
