West Ham eye double Sunderland swoop

West Ham United are prepared to lure both Jordan Pickford and Jermain Defoe from Sunderland when the transfer window reopens in the summer.

  • Chelsea midfielder looking forward to London derby vs Spurs
  • Arsenal in the front row to sign Dutch striker

  • The Hammers have endured a mixed campaign in the Premier League this term, and Slaven Bilic is well aware of the need for fresh recruitments in the upcoming transfer window.

According to The Express, the east London outfit have set their sights on moves for Pickford and Defoe with the goalkeeping and forward department respectively in need of strengthening this summer.

Defoe, who is Sunderland's top league scorer with 15 goals, will be available on a free transfer after the Black Cats failed to beat the Premier League drop.

On the other hand, the Hammers also have an eye on the services of Pickford, who has earned plaudits for his performances over the course of the season.

Pickford earned his maiden call-up to the England squad earlier in the year, and it is suggested that the Black Cats may struggle to keep hold of his services as a drop down would affect his chances of making it to next year's World Cup squad.
