Job done: Chelsea crowned Premier League champions

The objective was clear for Chelsea when they travelled to The Hawthorns on Friday to take on West Bromwich Albion, win and secure a fifth Premier League title for the Stamford Bridge club.

  • For much of the evening, it looked like the wait to be confirmed champions would go on, with Chelsea struggling to reach their fluid best, whilst West Brom, like any Tony Pulis team, were happy to frustrate them.

The celebrations and sighs of relief exploded however just eight minutes before the final whistle. Michy Batshuayi, who has struggled since joining from Marseille last summer, finished from close range to send players and fans alike into waves of jubilation.

That was enough to win it for Antonio Conte's men, with a guaranteed focus and professionalism now to turn that into a double by winning the FA Cup too. Conte insists that he is happy at Chelsea, but should he move to Inter Milan as reports suggest, he will have certainly left his mark on the Premier League.

Chelsea are deserved winners of the Premier League title, having lead the way from the very early stages. Their ruthless ability to see out results, alongside moments of pure class have been enough for them to beat the challenges of other clubs.
